The Hastings foreshore consists of the most southern mangroves in Australia. Some land reclamation took place several decades ago, and is now a huge area of grass and trees. The area is frequented by wading birds and pelicans.
The burn-off is from the Esso-BHP plant. Pollution? Yes, maybe they should do something about that.
Can you imagine a better setting for a much-needed kid`s skate park? Before it was finished the kids literally tore the fence down to get at it!
These wonderful carved pelicans welcome visitors to the children`s playground and the recreation area.
The War Memorial is a popular spot for people to linger, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
This historic tree was planted in1902 by Alice Maud Mary Perrott (of Hastings). Local residents were encouraged to plant trees that year to mark the Coronation of Edward VII.
Fishing on the jetty is very popular. It doesn`t matter if you catch anything or not, the fun is just doing it.
